Amigos de Radio Akicha es un grupo de amigos sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como objetivo colaborar en la creación y el mantenimiento de una emisora de radio en la zona de Lodwar (Kenia) Con esta emisora se pretende potenciar la educación, la cultura, los conocimientos y promover hábitos sanitarios entre los habitantes de la región, situada al noroeste de Kenia, cerca del lago Turkana
Radio Akicha nació a principios del 2009 impulsada por la Comunidad Misionera de San Pablo Apóstol y por los habitantes de Lodwar que son sus auténticos protagonistas.
Con la puesta en marcha de Radio Akicha, los 60.000 habitantes de Lodwar y los nómadas que viven en la región tendrán a su disposición un medio de comunicación que les permitirá difundir su cultura, sus costumbres y sus formas de vida. Además, Radio Akicha tiene como objetivos prioritarios contribuir a mejorar la educación, impulsar la agricultura de la región, promover hábitos sanitarios (lucha contra el SIDA) y ampliar el papel que las mujeres juegan en la sociedad turkana.
Amigos de Radio Akicha sigue la estela de colaboración con el proyecto de Radio Akicha que Esther Buendía marcó el verano de 2008 durante un viaje a Kenia con la ilusión y el espíritu de promover la que fue su gran pasión: ¡la radio!
Radio Akicha, que significa “luz” en idioma turkana, nace con el objetivo de iluminar a Lodwar, a sus habitantes y al futuro de toda la región.
Para conseguirlo hemos puesto en marcha varias iniciativas con el objetivo de recoger fondos para el proyecto. Tenemos un catálogo de artículos hechos a mano para venderlos entre todos aquellos que quieran colaborar con nosotros y con el proyecto de Radio Akicha.

Presentació
Amics de Radio Akicha és un grup d’amics sense ànim de lucre que té com a objectiu col·laborar en la creació i el manteniment d’una emissora de ràdio a la regió de Lodwar (Kenia). Amb aquesta emissora es pretén potenciar l’educació, la cultura, els coneixements i promoure hàbits sanitaris entre els habitants de la zona, situada al nord-oest de Kenia, prop del llac Turkana.
Radio Akicha veu la llum a començaments del 2009 impulsada per la Comunitat Missionera de Sant Pau Apòstol i pels propis habitants de Lodwar, els seus veritables protagonistes.
Amb la posada en marxa de Radio Akicha, els 60.000 habitants de Lodwar i els nòmades que habiten la regió tindran a la seva disposició un mitjà de comunicació que els permetrà difondre la seva cultura, els seus hàbits i les seves formes de vida. Però a més, Radio Akicha té com a altres objectius prioritaris contribuir a millorar l’educació dels infants, impulsar l’agricultura de la regió, promoure l’educació sanitària (lluita contra la SIDA) i ampliar el paper que les dones tenen en la societat turkana.
Amics de Radio Akicha segueix l’estela de col·laboració amb el projecte de Radio Akicha que Esther Buendía va marcar l’estiu de 2008 durant un viatge a Kenia amb la il·lusió i l’esperit de promoure la seva gran passió: la ràdio!

Welcome to Friends of Radio Akicha
Friends of Radio Akicha is a group of friends which have come together with a common purpose: to help create and run a radio station in the zone of Lodwar in Kenya. The aim of this radio station is strengthen the education, culture, knowledge and promote health education to the inhabitants of the region, which is situated in the north east of Kenya, near Lake Turkana.
Radio Akicha was launched at the beginning of 2009 and was driven by the Missionary Comunity of Saint Paul the Apostle)and by the inhabitants of Lodwar, who are the real driving force for this project.
With Radio Akicha in gear, the 60,000 inhabitants of Lodwar and the nomads that live in the region will have a method of communication available, which will allow them to spread their culture, traditions and ways of life. Moreover, one of Radio Akicha’s main objectives is to improve education, drive agriculture in the region, promote health awareness, AIDS prevention and improve the integral development of the Turkana women and their families, and enlighten them on skills for life.
Friends of Radio Akicha is following in the footsteps of the Radio Akicha project which Esther Buendía marked in the summer of 2008 while traveling in Kenya. She had the vision and spirit to bring the people her biggest passion of all, the radio!
